Red Bead Clubs are events in which the students invite their parents and family members to come to the school during the day to share in a celebration of personal strength in overcoming adversity. In 2016, 161 family members came to 28 clubs, wrote letters to each other about how they were strong, and then together read them aloud to the class.

Feedback from teachers was overwhelmingly positive and participation by parents was excellent. There are many moments during the Red Bead Clubs that are incredibly special. Last year we even found out about one student’s mom who had gotten a Red Bead tattoo after attending a Red Bead Club!

The students look forward to these events even when their own parents cannot attend. Any family member that walks in the door is greeted with excitement by everyone.
